Josh Payne makes it safely through to the knockout phase of the 2018 bwin Grand Slam of Darts as the Gravesend ace managed to secure the three legs that were required to make it out of group E as Jim Williams recorded a 5-4 victory over Max Hopp earlier on Monday evening. Payne was brilliant despite suffering a slender defeat. The World Youth finalist moved into a 2-0 lead and even missed a few darts for a 3-0 lead, but Wright came back fighting. But, Josh impressively held his ground as he moved into a 4-3 lead and he was actually in a position to win group E if he could’ve won 5-3.
Over the three matches, Josh has produced some steady stuff, and we’re all very excited about the knockout phase which starts on Wednesday as Josh faces Gerwyn Price in a best of 19 encounter.
