Payne Seals Qualification for ET11 in Maastricht

Josh Payne sealed qualification for ET11 in Maastricht this forthcoming weekend as the 24-year old produced two mesmeric displays to make his return to the European Tour stage after participating in ET10 over in Hildesheim this past weekend.

Payne narrowly saw off George Killington in this opening round match in a 6-5 success, but the youngster showed superb composure and class as he fired in a 12-darter in the deciding leg as he pulled out a sensational 121 finish to move into the second qualification round.

In the second and final qualification round, Payne came up against the Scot Cameron Menzies. Payne produced another superb display as he saw off the Scot in some style as he raced to a 6-1 victory as the Gravesend star produced an average of 92.7 en route. Payne raced into a 5-0 lead as he pulled the strings early doors, Menzies pulled a leg back with a 17-darter, before Payne produced a 73 finish for a 15-dart leg to close out the match, and seal qualification for ET11.

In the qualifiers for ET12, Payne lost out in a last-leg decider to Luke Humphries in his opening match, but considering that Payne was playing in Germany on Saturday evening, and to make it for the qualifiers, and qualify for ET11 is simply superb. Josh will be participating in back-to-back Players Championship events on Tuesday & Wednesday as the race for the World Grand Prix heats up.
