Josh Payne completed a sensational qualification double at the Barnsley Metrodome on Friday evening as the Gravesend-based star clinched qualification for the European Darts Trophy in Leverkusen on March 22-24 and the German Darts Championship on March 29-31 in Hildesheim.

The consistency shown from Payne over the course of both qualifying events was highly admirable. In the first qualifier, Payne produced a solid display to see off former World Championship Semi-Finalist Jamie Lewis 6-2 with an average of 96.9, Payne then cemented his place at the European Darts Trophy in Leverkusen with a 6-3 victory over Alan Norris whilst averaging 92.6.

In terms of the second qualifying event, Payne made light work of Wolverhampton’s Wayne Jones in a 6-1 victory before seeing off Kevin Garcia 6-4 to confirm his place at the German Darts Championship in Hildesheim. Payne was once again in great form as he averaged 96.6 to complete a fantastic double as he gets off to a great start in 2019.

And with two PDC Players Championship events coming up on Saturday and Sunday in Barnsley, Payne will be brimming with confidence as he looks for a third PDC ranking title after wins on the Players Championship series in 2016 and 2018.
