World Series of Darts Finals – Payne vs Gurney Match Report

Josh faced Daryl Gurney in Round One of the World Series of Darts Finals at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, the game started with both players scoring very well and Josh unluckily found himself 2-0 behind but he came back to peg the score at 2-2 on D13, Payne was in control of the fifth leg going into the break but a superb 141 checkout from Gurney with Josh sat waiting on 80 was to be the turning point of the match with Gurney going in at the break 3-2 up.

Josh managed to get the game back level at 3-3 but that was the last leg he won as Josh couldn’t quite match Gurney’s scoring power as he lost 6-3, Josh’s finishing was very impressive hitting 3 out of 4 doubles attempted but he is still learning how to play on the TV stages and he will get plenty of chances with the Players Championship finals at the end of the month followed by ‘The Big One’ The World Championships in December, the 22 year old Gravesend star has been tipped a star of the future and he look every part the player he has been tipped to be.
